Crystals 1kg Reusable Car Dehumidifier Bag - Black
A 1kg silica gel dehumidifier bag for cars, vans and caravans. The indicator turns pink when it needs drying out, and a microwave recharge turns it back to blue. Anti-slip pad included.
Features
The Crystals car dehumidifier is a 1kg bag of silica gel that sits in the cabin and pulls moisture out of the air. Less moisture in the car means less condensation forming on the inside of the glass, which is what leaves you wiping the windscreen with a sleeve on a cold, damp morning. It is reusable: when it is full you dry it out in the microwave and put it back. It comes in black with an anti-slip pad to stop it sliding about on the dashboard.
How the colour-change indicator works
A small window on the bag shows the state of the silica gel. It turns pink as the gel takes on moisture, which tells you the bag is full. After drying it in the microwave the window goes back to blue, and the bag is ready to use again. That indicator is the main reason to choose a bag like this over loose sachets: you can see when it needs recharging instead of guessing.
Where to put it
- On the dashboard, on the anti-slip pad, for the front windscreen. This is where most of the misting happens.
- On the rear parcel shelf if the back window is the one that fogs.
- Under a seat or in a footwell if you would rather keep it out of sight, though it will work more slowly where the air does not move much.
The listing also sells it for vans, caravans, boats and indoor use in cupboards, wardrobes and storage boxes, so it can move into a caravan or a damp cupboard over the winter.
Recharging it
When the indicator has turned pink, dry the bag in the microwave following the instructions supplied with it, then let it cool before putting it back in the car. Do not leave it on the dashboard while it is still hot from the microwave. How often it needs recharging depends on how damp the car is: a car that is parked outside and used daily with wet coats and shoes will fill it much faster than one kept in a garage.
What it will and will not fix
A 1kg bag handles the everyday moisture a car picks up from breath, wet clothing and damp air. It will not keep up with water getting in from a leaking door seal, a blocked drain or a wet carpet. If the indicator turns pink again within a day or two of recharging, look for the source of the water first. For a large van, or a car that is already very damp, one bag may not be enough.

Who should buy it
Buy it if your windscreen mists up on cold mornings and you want a cheap, reusable fix that sits on the dashboard and shows you when it needs drying out. Skip it if the car has a leak or a soaked carpet, because no dehumidifier bag will keep up with that, or if you want something you never have to recharge. In that case a mains dehumidifier in the garage is the bigger tool for the job. More car accessories are in our car range.
