Cosi Home 25L/Day Dehumidifier (CH-D-02) with 6.5L Water Tank

Cosi Home 25L/Day Dehumidifier (CH-D-02) with 6.5L Water Tank

4.4 (1,231 reviews)

A 25L/day compressor dehumidifier with a 6.5L tank, three modes, a 24-hour timer and continuous drainage. Read the extraction figure carefully: Amazon's own spec table lists 12L/day.

Features

This page used to cover Cosi Home's 12L/day model. The Amazon listing it links to now sells the larger 25L/day CH-D-02 at £149.99, so the page has been rewritten for that model. If you were after the old 12L unit at around £80, it is no longer what this listing ships.

What 25L/day actually means

The headline figure needs reading carefully. Amazon's title says 25 litres a day, but the same listing's own specification table gives a dehumidification capacity of 12 litres per day. Both can be true. Compressor dehumidifiers are usually rated at warm, saturated test conditions (typically around 30°C and 80% relative humidity), where they pull far more water from the air than they will in a normal British home. A lower figure quoted at more everyday conditions is the better guide to what you will empty from the tank.

So plan around something nearer 12L a day in a typical damp house in autumn or winter, and treat 25L as the ceiling. That is still a solid output for a single-storey flat or a three-bedroom house with a damp problem, but it is not twice the performance of a "12L" machine from another brand that quotes its own figure at standard conditions.

What it does well

  • Big 6.5L tank. Far larger than the 2 to 3L tanks on most 10 to 12L units, so you empty it less often, which matters when you are drying washing indoors.
  • Continuous drainage. A 1m hose is in the box. Run it into a sink or floor drain and the tank never fills.
  • Humidity targeting. Three modes (continuous, auto and a set relative humidity between 30% and 90%) and two fan speeds. In auto it switches itself off at the target, which is where the running-cost savings come from.
  • 24-hour timer. Set it to run while you are out, or to stop overnight.
  • Wheels. It weighs about 15kg, so the castors are not a gimmick.

Things to know before buying

  • It is a compressor unit, and compressors struggle in the cold. Below about 15°C their output drops sharply. For an unheated garage, shed, boat or caravan in winter, a desiccant model such as the EcoAir DD1 keeps working where this will not.
  • It is large. 58cm tall and 15kg, against roughly 40cm for a typical 12L machine. Not one to carry upstairs every evening.
  • Power draw is 250W. Cosi does not publish a noise figure, and the low-running-cost claim depends on auto mode cutting it off at your target humidity.
  • The review count is shared. The 4.4 stars from over 1,200 reviews appear to include the earlier 12L model on the same listing, so they say more about Cosi Home as a brand than about this exact unit.

At the same £149.99 the Air Pro 20L adds app control and a 4L tank; the Cosi counters with a bigger 6.5L tank. If you only have one or two damp rooms, the Honeywell or EcoAir DC12 does the job for £20 to £30 less. For a whole damp house, the Pro Breeze 30L is the step up.

Verdict

Buy it if you want a large tank and continuous drainage for a damp house or for drying washing indoors, and the room stays heated. Skip it for a cold garage or caravan (go desiccant), or if you were expecting the compact 12L Cosi this page used to describe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Cosi Home dehumidifier 12L or 25L?
The Amazon listing now sells the 25L/day CH-D-02 model. Its specification table also lists 12L per day, which is the more realistic figure for a normal UK home; 25L is the output at warm, saturated test conditions.
How big is the water tank?
6.5 litres, much larger than most 10 to 12L dehumidifiers. A 1m hose is included if you would rather drain it continuously into a sink or drain.
Does it work in a cold garage?
Not well. Like all compressor dehumidifiers its output falls sharply below about 15 degrees. For an unheated garage, shed or caravan, a desiccant model such as the EcoAir DD1 is the better choice.
Can it switch itself off at a set humidity?
Yes. Auto and relative modes let you set a target between 30% and 90% relative humidity, and the unit stops when the room reaches it. There is also a 24-hour timer.
How much power does it use?
The listing gives 250 watts. Running cost depends on how long it runs, which is why setting a target humidity rather than running it continuously saves the most.
