The HALO Sport flask is a 500ml (17oz) double-walled vacuum bottle in matt black, and the thing that actually separates it from the dozens of near-identical steel bottles on the shelf is what is between the two walls: a copper-plated inner wall. Copper reflects radiant heat back at the contents rather than letting it bleed through the vacuum gap, which is why HALO quote 48 hours cold and 12 hours hot where a plain double-walled bottle of the same size typically claims 24 and 6.
Treat those figures the way you would any manufacturer number: they assume a bottle filled to the top with an already-cold drink, the lid screwed shut, and the bottle left alone at room temperature. Half-fill it, open it every twenty minutes, or leave it on a car parcel shelf in August and you will get a fraction of that. The ranking against other bottles still holds even when the absolute number does not.
What it is actually built for
HALO Sport's main business is electrolyte sachets, and this bottle was designed as the mixer for them. That matters more than it sounds. The mouth is wide enough to tip a sachet into without a funnel, and the lid seals airtight so you can shake it without wearing the contents. It works perfectly well as an ordinary flask for iced water, tea, coffee or a protein shake, but if you have never touched an electrolyte tab in your life you are paying for a shaker you will use as a bottle.
Who it suits, and who it does not
At 500ml this is a commute-and-gym size, not an all-day-on-the-hill size. It is roughly two large glasses. If you are the sort of person who wants to fill once in the morning and not think about it again, look at a 750ml or 1L instead and accept the extra weight.
It is also a screw-top bottle, not a sports cap. There is no straw, no flip spout and no bite valve, so drinking means unscrewing the lid with one hand and holding the bottle with the other. That is the trade for the leak-proof seal, and it is the right trade if the bottle lives in a bag next to a laptop. The short version
Buy it if you want a genuinely well-insulated 500ml flask that doubles as an electrolyte shaker and you do not mind unscrewing a lid to drink. Skip it if you need capacity, a one-handed sports cap, or you are only after the cheapest insulated bottle that will do — 18/8 steel and a vacuum gap are commodity features, and the copper lining is the only part of this you cannot get for less.
