PROIRON Neoprene Dumbbell Home Exercise - 3kg
A pair of 3kg neoprene-coated dumbbells (6kg in total) with a solid cast iron core and non-rolling heads. A light, fixed weight for toning, Pilates, rehab and beginners.
Features
The first thing to know about the PROIRON 3kg neoprene dumbbell is that you are buying two of them. The listing is for a pair, so the box holds 2 x 3kg, 6kg in total, in dark green. That matters when you compare prices, because some rival listings at a similar price are for a single weight.

Why neoprene rather than bare iron or vinyl
A neoprene dumbbell is a one-piece cast iron weight dipped in a soft rubbery coating. There are no plates, collars or spinlocks, so nothing rattles or works loose, and there is nothing to assemble. The coating does three useful things at home:
- Grip. The matt, slightly textured surface stays grippy when your hands are sweaty, which bare chrome handles do not.
- Floors. PROIRON describes the coating as extra thick, and it is kinder to laminate and wooden floors than bare iron if you put a weight down heavily. It is not a licence to drop them.
- Cold. Neoprene never feels icy in an unheated spare room or garage.
The heads are flat-sided, so the weights stay put when you set them down between sets instead of rolling under the sofa. PROIRON also pitches that shape as stable enough to grip for push-ups, although at 3kg these are small, so take that with some caution if you have large hands or sore wrists.
Who a 3kg pair suits
Three kilos per hand is a light weight. It is a good fit for:
- Pilates, barre and aerobics classes at home, where weights are held for long sets
- Shoulder work such as lateral raises and rotator cuff exercises, where even strong people use light weights
- Beginners building up from nothing, and anyone coming back from an injury on a physio's advice
- Walking or step workouts with a bit of added load
Who should buy something else
Because the weight is fixed, you cannot make these heavier as you get stronger. Most people outgrow 3kg quickly for squats, rows, presses and anything using the legs or back. If that is what you plan to do, a heavier pair from the same range makes more sense, or a different tool altogether:
- The PROIRON neoprene coated kettlebell comes in sizes from 4kg to 24kg and suits swings, goblet squats and carries far better than a small dumbbell.
- The PROIRON resistance bands set gives you adjustable resistance in a bag that fits in a drawer, which is the better buy if space or progression matters more than the feel of a real weight.

Price and reviews
When we last checked, the 3kg pair was £21.99 on Amazon UK, which works out at about £11 per dumbbell. The listing holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from more than 26,000 ratings. Note that Amazon pools those ratings across every size in the range, so they tell you about PROIRON's neoprene dumbbells in general and not this weight specifically.
Buy or skip
Buy if you want a simple, comfortable pair of light weights for classes, toning or rehab, and you like the idea of a weight that will not roll away or mark the floor. Skip if you want to build real strength over time, because a fixed 3kg pair has nowhere to go once it feels easy.
