Compatibility: correcting an earlier version of this page
An earlier version of this page said these heads fit the Oral-B Pulsonic. They do not. Cross Action is a round, oscillating head for Oral-B's rotating brushes. It fits every Oral-B rotating handle except the iO series and Pulsonic, which covers Vitality, Pro 1, Pro 3, Pro 3 3500, Smart, Genius and the older Professional Care and Triumph models.
- Oral-B iO uses a magnetic drive and its own heads, such as iO Ultimate Clean.
- Oral-B Pulsonic is a sonic brush with a different fitting.
- Philips Sonicare and other brands will not take Oral-B heads.
Amazon's listing also tags this pack with an age range of "Kid". That is a listing error: Cross Action is an adult head.
What the head does
The bristle tufts are set at 16 degrees and lean in two directions, so as the head oscillates the tips are pushed into the gaps between teeth rather than skating over the fronts. Oral-B quotes up to 100% more plaque removal than a regular manual toothbrush, which is a comparison against a manual brush, not against other Oral-B heads.
The heads carry Oral-B's CleanMaximiser indicator bristles, which fade as the head wears. When roughly half the colour has gone it is time for a new head. Oral-B and dentists both work to about three months per head, so a ten-pack is around two and a half years for one person, or fifteen months for two sharing a handle.
Is the 10-pack better value than the 4-pack?
Not at the moment. Amazon is not selling this pack itself, so there is no featured offer. The cheapest new copy at the time of writing is about £45.25 from a third-party seller plus £4.49 delivery, roughly £4.97 a head. The white Cross Action 4-pack was working out at about £4.65 a head with free delivery, so the bigger box is not the saving it normally is.
Multipack prices on Oral-B heads move a lot, especially around sales events, so compare the per-head figure on the day. If price matters more than the angled bristles, the Precision Clean 12-pack fits the same handles for far less per head. The Cross Action refills listing is worth checking too.
Who it does not suit
- Sensitive or receding gums: Sensitive Clean heads use extra-soft bristles.
- iO or Pulsonic owners: these will not fit.
- Anyone who only needs a few heads: ten is a long supply for one person, and the 4-pack is currently cheaper per head anyway.

Buy or skip?
Buy if you want black heads on a standard Oral-B handle, share a brush between two people, or spot this pack back under about £4 a head. Skip it at today's price if you only need a year's supply, since the 4-pack is cheaper per head, and skip it entirely if you own an iO or a Pulsonic.
