Features
Meaco DD8L Junior, Compact Desiccant Dehumidifier
The DD8L Junior is the small-footprint member of Meaco's desiccant range, built for spaces where a full-size compressor dehumidifier is overkill or simply will not fit. It is popular on boats and in garages, where condensation and damp are a constant problem but floor space is not.
Key features
- Extracts up to 8 litres of water per day, and unlike a compressor unit it keeps working at low temperatures
- Three speed settings, with noise levels of 39, 43 and 48 dB(A)
- 2 litre tank with an optional continuous drainage hose for unattended running
- Auto restart brings the unit back on in the same mode after a power cut
- Compact dimensions of 20D x 25W x 46H cm, easy to tuck into a small utility space
Desiccant vs compressor
Because the DD8L Junior uses desiccant technology rather than a compressor and refrigerant, it keeps extracting moisture effectively even in a cold garage or boat cabin where a compressor dehumidifier's output drops off. The trade-off is a lower maximum extraction rate than a large compressor unit, which suits it to smaller rooms and enclosed spaces rather than an entire house.
Who it suits
Good for boat owners, garages, caravans and small utility rooms where condensation and mould are recurring problems. If you need to dry a larger living space or want the higher extraction rates of a full-size unit, Meaco's Arete One range is the better fit.
