The Festool SYS-RB is not a platform dolly with a Festool badge on it. The thing that separates it from the £20 trolleys sitting next to it on the shelf is the coupling on its top face: a Systainer T-LOC or Systainer³ box drops onto the board and the central control element latches it down, exactly the way one Systainer latches to another. Whatever you stack on top of that first box is then part of the same locked column. You are not balancing a tower on a flat sheet and hoping it stays put on a kerb or a van ramp.
That is the whole argument for the price. If you already run Systainers, this turns the stack you carry every day into something you push. If you do not, you are paying a large premium for a coupling you will never engage.
How it actually moves
All four 100 mm wheels swivel through 360°, which is why it turns in its own footprint rather than needing a run-up — useful in a workshop aisle or the back of a van, less relevant if you are crossing a car park in a straight line. Only two of the four castors have locking brakes. That is enough to park it, and it is worth knowing before you assume a fully braked base. Four handles around the edge give you somewhere to grab it when it has to be lifted rather than rolled, and the strap feedthroughs let you lash down anything that is not a Systainer — offcuts, a compressor, a bag of fittings.
About the numbers
Festool quote a 508 × 396 mm base, 100 kg load capacity, 100 mm roll diameter and 2.9 kg weight. Worth an honest caveat: the dimension string in the Amazon listing title reads 10.5 × 39.6 × 29.3 cm, which does not reconcile with a 508 mm base — the 39.6 cm matches the 396 mm width and the 10.5 cm is the standing height, but the third figure does not match the manufacturer's own length. Treat the 508 × 396 mm figure from Festool's own copy as the one to measure your van shelf against, and allow for the wheels below it. The 100 kg is a static load rating, not a licence to run it loaded down a flight of steps.

Who should skip it
Anyone not already invested in Systainers. On the same Amazon page you will find 150 kg platform dollies at £15 to £32, and if your job is moving boxes from A to B they will do it. The SYS-RB is roughly three to six times that, and every penny of the difference is the T-LOC coupling and Festool's build. Skip it too if you need all four wheels braked, or if you were hoping for a hand truck — this is a low base you push, not something with a handle you tilt.
Verdict
Buy if you carry a Systainer stack to site and are tired of it being a two-trip job. It is the only wheeled base that makes the stack a single locked object, and at 2.9 kg it does not cost you much to keep in the van. Skip if the boxes you move are not Systainers — the coupling is the product, and without it you are buying a very expensive dolly.
